General Information

The programme of walks from the Dearne Valeey Group of the Ramblers Association is open to members and to any potential members interested in walking in the countryside and/or the preservation and improvement of access to it.

Unless otherwise stated the rambles shown in the proramme of walks are circular routes, but the start points may not always be served by public transport.

The length or route of a walk may be changed, at the leader's discretion, from that shown, due to the vagaries of the weather, ground conditions etc., but should not normally be longer than the distance shown

Meeting point dates and start times will not be changed unless absolutely unavoidable.

It is always advisable to wear comfortable boots and to have rain and windproof clothing with you on every ramble. A packed lunch and plenty to drink are also necessary on most rambles in the programme, even though a pub stop may often be found.

To assist in selecting suitable walks, the rambles in the programme have been graded Easy, Moderate or Strenuous.

Remember, however, that inclement weather can easily increase a walk grading by one or even more grades. The overall degree of difficulty of a particular walk is combination of distance, terrain and weather.

'First Timers' are advised to select an easier walk initially.
