Note:   As the Saturday walks programme becomes increasingly busy a Thursday

and Friday Themed Walk have been introduced by way of an experiment.

Please also note the various start times and distances.

 

SATURDAY 30th June 07.    ‘Discover Chelmorton’s Past’

            Park:   considerately in the village.

            Meet:  south of Town End Farm. SK 111696

            Start @ 10.30 am.  Distance 7-8 miles moderate pace.

            An opportunity to discover the prehistoric and historic history of this area.  

       

THURSDAY, 12th July 07    ‘Discover the Alleyways & Snickets of Matlock’

            Meet SK  298603 Matlock, outside the ‘Somerfield’ supermarket.

Bus: (No. 17) BSS 09.30 from Chesterfield

            Start 10.15 am  Distance 6 miles.           Moderate pace – some steep but safe slopes

 

FRIDAY, 20th July 07          ‘Discovering Lost Transport Routes’

Park & Meet Public Car Park, Whaley Bridge. SK 012815

Start 11am    Distance 6-7 miles.    Moderate pace

A walk along the route of Peak Forest Tramway, on the Peak Forest Canal, visiting Bugsworth Basin – one of the largest inland ports ever built in

Britain – and finding remnants of the Cromford and High Peak Railway.

 

SATURDAY, 4th August 07  ‘Discover Sketching & Painting’

            Park & Meet Car Park below ‘Hardwick Inn’ SK 456633

Start @11 am.            Distance 4-5 miles.

Whether you are a beginner or more experienced this is an opportunity

for a leisurely walk with stops to sketch and/or paint.

Artist John Morris, whose sketches can be seen in the Round Walk Guide, will be on hand with advice and encouragement.

Bring your own materials.

If you are a complete beginner, all you need is a sketchbook and pencil.

 

SATURDAY 29th September 07 ‘ Discover Ashover’s Industrial Past’

            Meet Ashover Village Hall Car Park. SK 352632

            Bus (No.17) BSS 09.30 from Chesterfield for Kelstedge         

          Start: 10.15 am   Distance 6-7 miles.  Moderate pace

This beautiful countryside was once a hive of industry. Join us as we look

at the remnants of lead mining, quarrying and light railway in the area.
